Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek is an Ojibwe First Nation in northwestern Ontario whose band office is in Beardmore and whose reserve is on Partridge Lake.
Animbiigoo Zaagi'igan Anishinaabek (AZA), also known as Lake Nipigon Ojibway First Nation, is an Ojibwe First Nation in northwestern Ontario and part of the Robinson-Superior Treaty. The band office is in Beardmore, and AZA is a member of the Nokiiwin Tribal Council.
The Nation's reserve at Partridge Lake, within the Municipality of Greenstone, was established in 2008. It lies about 40 km east of Beardmore on Highway 11 and covers 12 square kilometres of undeveloped land. Because of this, members live in communities across Northwestern Ontario. Leadership has described a vision for the Partridge Lake Reserve to become a self-sufficient, culturally driven community.
Work on the land base is moving ahead. With up to $2.5 million in federal funding, an electrification project bringing power to the community was completed in 2021. AZA signed a Framework Agreement on land management in April 2017 and is developing its own land code. Economic development includes work connected to the Greenstone Gold Mines Hardrock and Brookbank sites and water power generation.
